Awareness

A layout of Tyler using the Just Me kit for Autism Awareness available at Scrapdish.
The card reads: I have AutismI may not look unusual but I experience the world much differently than you do. Autism makes it difficult to communicate with you, and sometimes causes me to have unusual behavior. I am doing my very best. Please be patient with me.
Early Intervention: I.B.I Therapy

Created using the "Just Me" Autism Awareness kit available kit available at Scrapdish. This is a basic explanation of Tyler's I.B.I therapy Journalling: When you were first diagnosed with Autism our first reaction was not the initial shock experienced by a lot of people, but acceptance and in some ways relief that we finally knew what was wrong. Our second reaction get you help.
We were given a lot of information in a very short period of time but the overwhelming concensus was Early Intervention with Intensive Behavorial Intervention (I.B.I Therapy)We chose to go with the Society for the Treatment of Autism (STA) You were only 2 and a half and I couldn’t imagine having you away from home for 30 hours a week so we chose the at home program they offered. You would be one busy little boy with a whole team working with you. You had two EIT’s Lisa, and Stephanie (who was replaced then with Trish and finally Janine) with you on alternate days. You had Genieve for Speech, Kara for Occupational Therapy,Treena for Psych, Caroline as your team supervisor and Marilyn as your Social Integration coordinator. Your therapy ran 6 hours a day, 5 days a week, 12 months of the year Everyday there was someone else coming to the house, or you going off to swimming, music therapy, sports group, kids club and of course Fridays were always big outings with the other kids from the STA. The outings wouldtake you to the zoo, Bowness Park, Heritage Park, the Stampede, Glenmore Reservoir, the Bird Sanctuary, TheScience Centre, All of these activities were based upon your personal I.P.P and reflected the goals and needsthat you had for therapy.
Each day, through everything, there was one and only one goal in mind JUST YOU!

The Muppet Personality Test

As most of you know (assuming the 3 people that read this are paying attention...lol) Jeanine's son Colton and my son Tyler both have Autism.
April is considered Autism Awareness Month and Jeanine being the smart chick that she is, came up with the idea of creating a kit with the proceeds going to Autism Research and Awareness. All 10 Scrapdish designers: Jeanine Baechtold, Rachel Dickson, Krista Mettler, Robin Cabana, Jen Reed, Melissa Goerke, Clara Wallace, Correen Silke, Tania Cordova, and Amy Knepper came together to create 10 exclusive mini-kits that go together to create one giant megakit with 45 papers, over 100 elements and two alphas. Scrapdish for $10.00If you are unsure what Autism is, would like to read more about it or find links in your area please visit this post at RAKScraps:

It's so much fun to work on a kit with these three, we all have different styles and yet they blend so well together.
